Within IMAGO SENSIBILIS / IMAGE MENTALE, Pradubjai Wongprasert’s I Want to Fly Like Bird unfolds as a complex field of inner projection where imagination, memory, and desire converge. The composition resists a singular point of view, instead dispersing the image across multiple symbolic zones: a luminous, ascending figure at the center, an owl poised at the threshold of night and knowledge, fragmented urban forms, and a turbulent natural realm inhabited by hybrid creatures.

These elements do not cohere into a fixed narrative; rather, they operate as mental fragments—images in flux that oscillate between consciousness and dream. The rainbow arc, spanning the pictorial space, functions less as a natural phenomenon than as a connective axis, linking disparate perceptual and symbolic registers. It becomes a visual trace of thought itself: a passage between states of being, between the grounded and the transcendental.

The work foregrounds the instability of vision. What appears is continuously transformed by what is imagined; figuration dissolves into abstraction, and clarity gives way to multiplicity. In this sense, the painting does not represent flight as a physical act, but as a cognitive and affective condition—a desire to transcend the limits of the visible and inhabit the space of the mental image.

Situated within the exhibition’s framework, I Want to Fly Like Bird articulates the image as an event: a site where perception, memory, and imagination intersect.
