General Introduction
Drawing has always occupied a central place in my practice. I often work with charcoal, graphite, ink and other direct materials, attracted by their immediacy and by the physical relationship they establish between gesture, surface and space.
For me, drawing is not necessarily a preparation for painting. It is an autonomous way of thinking. A line can define a form, but it can also divide a space, interrupt it, or disappear into it. Charcoal is particularly important because it allows me to move between the density of black and the fragility of a trace — between something strongly present and something that seems about to vanish.
Painting extends these questions through surface, scale and material. Rather than constructing an image through representation alone, I am interested in how an image can emerge from repetition, accumulation, erasure, contrast and silence.
Black and white frequently form the foundation of this work. Black is not simply darkness, nor white an absence. Each becomes a space with its own density. Between them, a line, an edge or a change of texture may be enough to suggest distance, landscape or horizon.
Across drawing and painting, I return repeatedly to a simple question: how little is necessary for an image to appear?
The work develops in this uncertain territory — between drawing and painting, surface and depth, abstraction and landscape, what is visible and what remains only suggested.

HORIZON was presented at Halle Nord, Geneva, in 2009.
The installation brought together a series of large black works in which dense, repetitive marks cover almost the entire surface. Across this accumulation, a darker horizontal interruption appears — sometimes continuous, sometimes irregular — suggesting the distant contour of a landscape.
The horizon is reduced to an elementary division: above and below, distance and surface, light and darkness. Continue reading

In Synthetic Landscape, painting is inseparable from the physical structure of its support. Applied directly onto industrial bubble wrap, the paint catches primarily on the raised circular surfaces, fragmenting the image into thousands of small points.
